The Lounge includes foosball, a computer and games. If your child is 12 or older, they’ll enjoy our Teen Lounge. If your child has cancer, The Solarium is a place where they can safely go outside of their hospital room to enjoy a more normal environment of sunlight and activities. Like The Cabin, The Solarium features a positive pressure air system. Rooms include a full bath, TV and couch-chair for parents. Northwoods murals support a quiet atmosphere. Purified air is essential for pediatric patients who have poor immune systems: children with cancer, blood disorders or immune problems. This means air pressure is higher within The Cabin than outside, so contaminants (particles, viruses and bacteria) are kept out. Unique to The Cabin is a positive pressure environment. It is structured primarily for hematology and oncology patients. Most rooms are private with a full bath, TV and a sleeper-seating couch. Dimming globe ceilings and a glow-in-the-dark solar system decorate hallways. If your child is school age to adolescent, they’ll stay in our seven-bed Northern Lights area. Follow bunny tracks to designated play areas for young and teenage patients. It features a fireplace and park benches, and is a close-by for family and friends to visit when care teams need privacy in your child's room. Otten has an intense interest in helping each child that comes to his office reach his/her full potential. Now his 5 year-old son, Xander, is on his own path of recovery from autism. He began studying autism 16 years ago while a pre-med student at the University of Minnesota, his interest being sparked while caring for a close family member with the condition. Otten will be the first naturopathic doctor in the state of Minnesota to be a fellow of the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs, a forward thinking group of medical professionals focused on the biomedical treatment of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other neurodevelopmental disorders.
